Healthcare Program
Preventable illnesses and basic health issues eat away at school hours. An ill child will not be able to study. We want to be certain that our children are healthy so we provide basic health services, as well as hygiene and nutrition.
Good health and prevention is promoted through simple but effective practices such as regular bathing, washing hands before eating, keeping clothes clean and regular exercise.
Unfortunately, poverty and street life exposes the children to a range of health risks. In response, we have partnered with a local healthcare provider to offer comprehensive bi-annual medical check-ups. These check-ups include dental, vision and hearing evaluations. Parents are involved in these health checks and are responsible for administrating any prescribed treatment. In addition, SHYE reimburses health care expenses incurred by the families at government run health facilities and also prescription expenses incurred at government sanctioned pharmacies.
SHYE believes that good health is a right for all children and is essential for their development. Health and well-being are vital in enabling children to reach their potential and to break free from the cycle of poverty.
